Scrap Buffet

I attended Studio Azul's Scrap Buffet a few weeks ago. Loved the no leftover concept. We started with a kit and as soon as one layout was completed, we could then go to the buffet table to choose 2 cardtock, 3 patterned papers and 10 embellishments. We could go back for more once the next layout was completed. We were also asked to put all the scraps in a box in the middle of the table and were encouraged to use up the scraps for cards or for the layouts. I was able to finish 4 layouts, 4 cards and a tag mini album. I must have been one of the slowest scrappers that day as others were able to finish 12, 15 and even 20 layouts.

This was my first layout of the day using the starter kit and one of the challenge sketches. Included in the kit were 2 challenge sketches and several more sketches for some inspiration.

These were the next three layouts

These are the 4 cards I was able to make with the scraps:

Back to School

I'm back doing a role I haven't done in 10 years - the official fetcher from school. This time it's not to pick up my daughters but to pick up my granddaughter. Actually last year I did pick up Sophia from school but it was only 3 times a week and in the small school. This time it's in the big school and 5 days a week. Yesterday I brought her to school too and waited around as it was just for an hour. Today I am also waiting from 8:00 am to 10:00am. Thank goodness for the mini laptop and SmartBro I can check my e-mail while waiting. Tomorrow I will just pick her up. This means I have to start my workday and get to the office by 6:00 am and hopefully finish everything by 9:30. If I don't start early, my time at the office will start at 10:30.

I brought her to the office with me yesterday with no yaya in tow. It was quite difficult as she wanted me to play with her and I had lots of paperwork to look through. Good thing one of my cousins passed by and played with her.

Yesterday while waiting for Sophia I got to talk to 2 of the mommies waiting for their daughters. Discovered they are quite crafty too. One of them has a craft store in SM Hypermart named Bella Carta. She has craft classes for kids 6 years and above. She makes digital designed cards which she prints and then embellishes with bling or embossing. The other mommy scraps. The conversation got quite animated when we got to this topic.

Need to take a nap.My body is adjusting to the new earlier waking time.

Fun Times

I'm so glad you have cousins to play with on week-ends. It's one of the highlights of your week.

More Scarlet Lime LOs

I've been enjoying the Scarlet Lime kits. Scrapping at a place other than home is less stressful with the kits. It's a way to challenge myself to work with what's available.

Mini Challenge

Made this LO at a surprise mini challenge at Visual Creations. Rules were to use either white or kraft cardstock, various polka dot paper, ribbons and flowers and stamps. This is what I made. Won 2 RAKs that day - one for being the first to finish and two for being voted as the winner of the challenge. Thanks Mitch.

Remember Mommy

Made this LO last April at Rekindled Moments workshop with Cookie. It showcases a photo of my mom and her youngest sister Tita Pilar (who's like a mom to me too). Decided to upload it today to remember my mom who passed away in 2000.

Kaya 24 & 25

I haven't posted anything here for the last 2 months. Doesn't mean I haven't been busy making layouts. I can proudly say I was able to join the Kaya 24 & 25 challenges. I like joining the challenges as I can use different techniques and materials each month.

The Kaya 24 challenge called for stamping using a traditonal stamp and also a non-stamping item. I used a big glass serving plate for the non-stamping item.

Kaya 25 called for the use of fabric and ribbon/lace/fiber. The fabric I used was felt. Decided to make a really simple layout as I couldn't find my stash of printed scrap fabric. We were not allowed to use any patterned paper.
